• Durham Region is a regional municipality on the eastern edge of the Greater Toronto Area made up of eight municipalities: Ajax, Brock, Clarington, Oshawa, Pickering, Scugog, Uxbridge and Whitby, with a population of nearly 700,000.
• The region covers about 2,500 square kilometres, stretching from the Lake Ontario shoreline in the south, where suburban communities line the waterfront, to rural farmland, lakes and small towns in the north.
• Durham is one of the fastest-growing parts of the GTA, adding more than 51,000 residents between 2016 and 2021, which keeps demand strong for new subdivisions, custom homes, waterfront properties and rural estates.
• Durham Region is committed to environmental sustainability through its Corporate Climate Action Plan, which targets net-zero corporate emissions by 2045, alongside a community-wide goal of net zero by 2050.
